Brighton Energy Coop gathers lots of people together to invest  collectively in big renewable energy projects. Over the last two years  we have raised nearly £700,000 for new solar projects in and around  Brighton. The electricity produced qualifies for a government subsidy  called the Feed in Tariff, and power is also sold to our solar landlords  and the national grid. The money thus raised then flows back into the  Coop, and is used to pay interest to members, maintenance costs,  development of future projects and support for other community schemes.
